ITANAGAR, June 10: All Raga Area Students’ Union (ARASU) has questioned the process by which the Block Coordinators and District Coordinators under Shakshar Bharat Programme were appointed in Raga Block.
Alleging that interview for both the posts of District and Block Coordinators in Raga Block were conducted in name sake without giving proper advertisement, ARASU, in its letter to Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner cum CEO, ZLSS said that three out of four persons appointed in the posts were ‘outsiders,’ which has deprived the local unemployed youth of Raga area.

ITANAGAR: Expressing serious concern over the recent Nirjuli incident in which a pistol and suspected hand grenade were found from the RTI activist and Sango Lomte Foundation chairman Payi Gyadi’s car, All Arunachal Contractors Welfare Association claimed that it was a clear criminal conspiracy perpetrated to eliminate Gyadi for raising voice against corruption and illegal appointments in Govt departments.
Describing the incident unfortunate, Association demanded adequate security to the RTI activist and arrest of culprits behind the incident soon.
The Association further said that such kind of incident happen in capital due to deteriorating law and order situation. It demanded the authority to deploy adequate security forces to improve the law and order.
‘Initiate steps to activate Rina Hydel’
ITANAGAR: Action Committee on Electricity Pasighat appealed to the concerned authority to initiate immediate steps to operate Rina Micro Hydel to its actual capacity.
Earlier, the committee had proposed to the authority to connect Rina Hydel to Pasighat for better power supply.
It however informed that “despite their repeated appeals, the Rina hydel could not be materialized till today to mitigate the acute shortage of power supply in the area”.
A copy of the memorandum has also been submitted to Chief Minister and Power Minister seeking their immediate interventions.

A lesson to be learnt from others
Dear Editor,
While going through the news, published on 7th June, 'Promoters disappointed with tourism infrastructure' I felt that it was really an eye opener for the Tourism department. As rightly indicated by the team of Kolkota based Tourism promoters, the basic problem of tourism sector needs to be modified. I too believe that the main problem lies in the infrastructure where most of the accommodation facilities does not provide or meet the basic standard and most of accommodation facilities are being controlled by Government bodies whereas involvement of local entrepreneurs are required to build tourist lodges, home stay accommodation without damaging the nature and local environment.
Our state is naturally a gifted state with vast accumulation of flora and fauna, beautiful mountains and rivers, different types of culture and beautiful places having archeological significance. To sum up our state's potential to become tourism land cannot be defined until one visit and explores it fully. Such is the vastness of the beauty of our state that one has to come again and again to give the final verdict 'how beautiful is our state 'Arunachal Pradesh'.
Our govt. must know that with the natural potential alone we cannot dream of becoming a perfect tourism state. Govt must need to learn some lesson from the other tourism state in northeast like Meghalaya and Sikkim .
Shillong is not just called the 'Scotland of East' because of its natural potentiality but because of its people's and governments efforts to preserve and maintain the natural beauty. In Shillong almost all the tourist sites are owned and maintained by the local entrepreneurs.
Hope our government and the tourism department will learn from the drawbacks submitted in the reports by the Kolkata based tourism promoters and rectify it soon to make ‘Arunachal Pradesh’ a true paradise for visitors.

ITANAGAR, June 10: A meeting on Inter State border issues in between D.C Lakhimpur and Papum Pare, Capital Complex was held at Naharlagun today.
In the meeting issues relating to land allotment to BRTF at Gorubandha, newly constructed Check gate at Gumto, problems at Denka and Bogoli under Doimukh Circle, Lora, Kimin and Kakoi villages and other issues related to crime and forest were discussed.
In the meeting the house unanimously decided to keep the camaraderie between the two districts and maintain status quo till the final verdict of the Boundary Commission.

In the matter of boundary demarcation for the land allotted to BRTF at Gorunbandha, DC Lakhimpur sought more time to study the situation and assured that the problem shall be resolved immediately in close consultation with DC Capital,Itanagar and CO Narayanpur.

TAWANG, June 10: As they prepare for religious rituals on June 17 in memory of Late
Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu with the passage of 49 days, family members and well
wishers journeyed to the crash site at Luguthang on June 7-
After failed attempts by the Sukhoi and ISRO, it was the villagers of Luguthang who finally traced the debris of the missing chopper and mortal remains of the Late Chief Minister and four others on 4th May.
The team led by Tsering Tashi, the second son of Late Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu extended their gratitude to the villagers of Luguthang for materializing the search operation.
While paying tribute to his father, Tashi conducted religious rituals in crash site. It was decided to construct a memory Stupa at the exact spot where the body of Late Chief Minister was found. During his visit, Circle Officer Thingbu, a medical team along with Panchayat leaders and Public leaders of Jang also accompanied Tashi.
He distributed medicines, food items to the villagers and also provided financial assistance to those living below the poverty line.

FCI committee to visit Siang districts to take account of PDS

(FCI) for Arunachal Pradesh is scheduled to visit East Siang and Upper Siang from

The main objectives of the tour are to ensure effective implementation of PDS including BPL, APL, AAY at various locations, maintaining satisfactory level of operational and buffer stocks of food grains, to make food grains available at reasonable prices, particularly to vulnerable section of the society.
The members will also inspect FCI godown and base depot at North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji & Pasighat.

Outreach health camp by Changlang

ITANAGAR, June 10: The District Health Society, Changlang Organised outreach health camps at Longman village under Jairampur circle on June 3 and on June 4 at Lumphang village under Nampong circle.
Adjoining villages Chamro and Hungkap in Jairampur and New putok and Lungtang in Nampong circle availed the services of the outreach camp. At Longman village, 178 persons and at Lumphang, 82 persons were benefited from health checkups. Medicines, immunization for both mothers and children, blood samples for malaria test were also conducted. The villagers were also provided Ultra Sonography services which was made possible by carrying the generator and the Ultra Sonography machine to the villages with much effort. A total of 17 patients in Longman and 15 patients in Lungpang underwent the ultra sound test at their doorsteps.
During the health camp BCC/IEC activities for maternal health with emphasis on exclusive breastfeeding, hospital delivery, counselling to increase ANC coverage was also organized. The Village Headman of Longman C.N.Longri and ZPM, Jairampur Joyo Longri, Ex GB, Lungtang K. Mossang provided ample support for successful conduction of the health camps at their respective villages. The ASHAs of these respective villages worked equally hard in successful conduction of the camp.
A review meeting cum workshop of the district health society, Changlang was also organized on June 6. The meeting was convened to help the M.O i/c in proper implementation of the NRHM programme in their respective blocks. The issues like JSY, RKS, VHSC,VHND, ASHA recruitment and training, referral transport, different directives from the state health directorate etc were widely discussed.

ITANAGAR, June 10: The Arunachal Pradesh unit of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) observed its 13th Foundation Day at Doimukh. To mark the foundation day, the State Office bearers and Nationalist Youth Congress (NYC), Nationalist Mahila Congress (NMC), Nationalist Student Congress (NSC) carried out tree plantation program at various government offices at Doimukh Township.
While referring to the Karla National Conclave, Ngurang Pinch state president, NCP spoke profoundly on the programme of Education, Health, Food Security and employment for action, consolidation and side by side expansion of NCP in the state.
“Right at this moment the overall situation of our state capital is compelling me
to say that the state government is an living example of utter failure in respect
of maintaining and developing a state capital worth its name. Every day we are confronted
with problems created by lack of sanitation, unplanned construction, poor road condition
particularly of the arterial roads from different sectors, poor market place atmosphere
and many more. These clearly show that the tall promises of the government have fallen
miserably short of the expectations of the people living in the capital towns Itanagar-
MLA and NCP legislature leader Ralom Borang who was Chief Guest at the Foundation Day urged his MLA colleagues and the party leaders to strengthen the party at grassroots level by carrying out membership drive. Techi Kaso, who is also NCP MLA representing13th Itanagar Assembly Constituency, urged the grass root cadres to render better services while executing party activities. The better and healthier image of a party depends on the good services of the party workers, he said.
The MLA further said he will not defect to other political party as witnessed by the party earlier. He further highlighted the various developmental schemes carried out at Itanagar under his guidance during his two year tenure as MLA and informed that he had submitted the Government many developmental schemes which include 7 flyover projects for Itanagar and Naharlagun to evade traffic problems. Regarding Greenfield Airport at Karsingsa, Itanagar, he strongly urged the government to do such a job so that it can start the construction at the earliest.
